Adam Mejerson

Executive Director

As the Founding Director, Adam spearheaded the development of the organization and catalyzed growth from crowdfunding the first FitLot in New Orleans to establishing a national partnership with AARP resulting in a fully funded FitLot being donated to every state and three U.S. territories by the Fall of 2021. Adam continuously works to help communities throughout the country find the resources they need to plan, build, and program outdoor fitness parks.

Adam’s commitment to social impact was born in his freshman year of college, spending his spring semester as a Habitat volunteer in St. Bernard Parish following Hurricane Katrina. Adam gained experience in disaster recovery and community development through his work with the New Orleans Neighborhood of Broadmoor and a national startup response organization dedicated to interfaith collaboration during disaster recovery. In 2013, Adam was selected for Propeller’s competitive Social Innovation Accelerator Program where he developed the FitLot concept, combining his expertise as a fitness professional with his passion for restoring underutilized urban spaces. Today, Adam serves as a member of the New Orleans AARP Livable Cities Task Force and as a founding board member of Parks for All.

In the years following Hurricane Katrina Adam earned a BA in sociology from Loyola University New Orleans with a focus on disaster recovery. Adam stays active with the help of outdoor fitness spaces throughout New Orleans. You can often find him biking through City Park or kayaking down the bayou. Be sure to join one of his classes at the FitLot on the Greenway!
