Building Stronger Neighborhoods
FitLot was founded out of frustration by a father and son who simply couldn’t understand why every neighborhood in America didn’t have their own outdoor fitness park.
The two believed they were uniquely suited to address this problem and in 2012 FitLot was officially launched out of Propeller’s Social Innovation Incubator by Adam Mejerson and his father, Vadim Mejerson, Ph.D.
After a 10 year career as a commanding officer in the IDF, Vadim earned a PhD in Exercise Physiology and for the next 30 years, trained hundreds of individuals from a private fitness facility connected to the Mejerson family home.
Growing up in his father’s fitness facility, Adam always had access to equipment and someone he trusted to teach him how to use it. Adam’s professional background in community development post-Katrina, coupled with his appreciation for fitness, led to the creation of FitLot, a community health solution that he believes has the power to improve the health and quality of life in neighborhoods throughout the country. In 2018 FitLot earned the partnership of the nation’s premier playground equipment manufacturer, Landscape Structures Inc. to produce high-quality public fitness spaces. Their hope is to help as many communities as possible create equitable access to outdoor fitness parks and programming in the years to come.
